The Peregrine Preserve: to be protected in perpetuity with your help

Preserving the Peregrine Tract: An Extraordinary Opportunity to Protect the Highlands–Cashiers Landscape Perched along the face of Whiteside Mountain, one of the most iconic natural landmarks in the Southern Appalachians, lies a spectacular 104-acre property known as the Peregrine Tract. From its ridgelines, you can look out across southern app hardwood forests and the sparkling headwaters of the Chattooga River, one of the first rivers ever protected as Wild and Scenic in the United States. The Peregrine property shares its borders with the Nantahala National Forest and sits squarely within a landscape that defines the character, economy, and quality of life in the Highlands–Cashiers Plateau. Today, this rare and beautiful land stands at a crossroads. With your support, we can ensure it remains forever wild.

Peregrine Preserve at Whiteside Mountain

Following successful fundraising to retire the amount borrowed from a conservation funder to make this project a reality (fingers crossed, you can help get us over the finish line!) OSI and HCLT anticipate that the Peregrine Preserve will be open to the public for hiking and rock climbing in the future so stay tuned!
