Job Description

Development Coordinator
Highlands-Cashiers Land Trust
 
Overview:       The Highlands-Cashiers Land Trust (HCLT) is a non-profit organization committed to protecting unique and irreplaceable lands in western North Carolina. HCLT seeks an administrative professional to support the growing fundraising program and to be a member of a thriving 6-person office in Highlands, NC.
 
The position reports to a full-time Director of Development and works closely as needed with the Executive Director and members of the Board of Directors to develop strong relationships with our donors through solicitation, engagement and events. The position is part-time, but hours are flexible depending on the time of year; hours during summer months (“the season”) or around calendar year-end may be extended, with increased flexibility during other times of the year.
 
General Responsibilities:

  • Management of a 3000+ database of donors, prospects and community partners that insures data integrity, accuracy and timeliness of all mailings, acknowledgement letters and communications from donors.
  • Gift processing, ensuring all donations are acknowledged accurately and personally within 72 hours of receipt. 
  • Development of correspondence with donors via letter, email and phone including appeal letters, and gift acknowledgments.
  • Implementing a detailed and strategic communication plan for outreach to donors and prospects at all levels. 
  • Providing regular reports to staff and board regarding data analytics and goal achievement for budgeting purposes.
  • Coordination of all creation of and mailings of (internally and externally through a mail house) publications and solicitations in coordination with the director of development and other staff members.
  • Produce monthly reports to reconcile all donation revenue between Quickbooks and Bloomerang.
  • Assist staff as necessary with all events hosted by the HCLT, including those after hours and on weekends.
  • Other duties as assigned in order to assist a small team.
 
Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s or associate degree preferred. 2+ years of recent and successful administrative experience, especially in the non-profit sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in constituent management systems. Experience with Bloomerang is a plus.
  • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency, especially Word, Power Point and Excel is required.  Email marketing experience with constant contact of other similar system. Experience with Canva and/or design software is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as working as a team.
  • Oral and written communication skills, and professionalism as evidenced by ability to relating to a wide range of people.
