Save Mountains

The places we love are at risk. You can save them.  Support Highlands-Cashiers Land Trust and save mountains! Your generosity is creating a future where natural landscapes, open spaces, and healthy communities are cared for and enjoyed by people who share a love of nature and a deep appreciation for the richness of their diverse cultures.

Please consider the many ways you can support Highlands-Cashiers Land Trust.

Cash: Gifts of cash are the easiest ways to support HCLT with a philanthropic gift. Cash
contributions are tax-deductible as allowable by the Internal Revenue Service. Cash
gifts can be made by check, credit card or wire transfer. When giving online, options are available
to make your gift a recurring monthly donation.

Appreciated securities/stock: A gift of appreciated stock can give you greater tax
benefits than a gift of cash by avoiding paying the capital gains tax on the increased
value of the stock and by receiving a charitable deduction for the full fair market value of
the stock. The tax-deductible value is the mean average of the high and low market
value on the day you relinquish control of the stock. Please contact Julie Schott at [email protected] before
you arrange a stock transfer with your broker to ensure that the stock is not sold before
it is transferred into our account. We will contact your broker directly with our DTC and
Account numbers.

IRA Distribution: If you are 70 ½ or older, IRS rules may require you to take a
Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) each year from your tax-deferred retirement
accounts. This additional taxable income may push you into a higher tax bracket and
may reduce your eligibility for certain tax credits and deductions. To eliminate or reduce
the impact of RMD income, you may want to consider making a Qualified Chartable
Distribution (QCD) directly to HCLT. Contact your retirement advisor for instructions.

Planned Gifts: By establishing a planned gift or estate gift, you can support HCLT upon
your death. Irrevocable gifts including some Charitable Trusts and Annuities may
be eligible for naming opportunities. While planned gifts will not be readily
available to support the annual fund, they will ensure a strong future for HCLTs
programs.

Corporate Matching Gifts: Many employers will match employee contributions,
allowing you to double or triple your gift to HCLT. Simply obtain your (or your spouses)
company matching gift form and enclose it with your gift. HCLT will process the
appropriate forms on your behalf. While these gifts do not increase your personal tax-
deductibility they do allow you to provide additional support to HCLT.

Tributes: Any contribution can be made in honor or memory of a loved one and Gift Memberships are also available. Contact Julie Schott for details.

Donate to Highlands-Cashiers Land Trust (bloomerang.co)

Thanks to the generosity of donors like you, we are able to conserve some of the world's oldest mountains before they are lost forever. We can also get our youth off screens and into streams through our Kids in Nature programs, offer more hiking and educational opportunities for our community and make our economy and our community stronger. Your donation supports our shared vision for healthy lands, healthy people, and healthy communities.

Highlands-Cashiers Land Trust has earned national accreditation from the Land Trust Accreditation Commission, certifying us as an ethical and effective Land Trust. We have also earned Candid's Gold Seal of Transparency.
