If I donate a conservation easement, do I still own my land?
Yes, but with limited or no development rights.
Can I sell my conservation easement to a new owner?
Yes, and we have seen those easements sell at market prices.
Does the public have access to my property if I place it in an easement?
No, private easements are not public lands.
If I donate land can the land trust sell it?
Depends upon deed restrictions placed by the donor on the lands. Most of the properties owned by HCLT cannot be resold.
